Our team members have a long haul to get to the Congo Canyon from Southampton, but that gives them plenty of time to think about their recovery strategy.
We of course know where we left our instrumentation (yellow triangles below), but another group deployed some moorings which have released and have been roaming (red).
Scientists come up with some weird and wonderful tracks to minimise the distances between instruments and thus minimise the amount of time taken to do search and recoveries.
However we don’t think we’ll need to do a recovery track as shown below.
